Here is My Question:
Is there a relatively common/standard frequency of MRIs to distinguish & monitor permanent and transitory inflammation as represented by white and black lesions? Spinal cord? Grey & white matter volume? Brain atrophy? Thanks.
MRI volume measurements are not currently done in most clinical practice settings.
The frequency of MRI monitoring for white matter lesions and enhancing lesions is not standardized.
Most experts agree on the following:
1. A minimum of yearly MRI monitoring is warranted in the first 10 years of the symptomatic disease
2. Current MRI monitoring techniques have less value in clinical practice after 10 years of clinical disease, especially in those over 55 and those with progressive disease for several years
