How long is it safe to take Tecfidera?
No one knows how long it is safe to take Tecfidera. Even though it has been used to treat psoriasis for several decades, the average duration of treatment in psoriasis patients was less than 2 years. There are now many MS patients who have been on this medication for 3 years. We believe it is safe as long as you do not experience a prolonged reduction of lymphocyte counts but we will need to follow patients for many years to be completely certain. I would remind you that is true of many treatments used in medicine. It takes many years after a medication is approved to determine the long term risks of the therapy.
